Longing For Innocense Revisited

This painting is about the longing for a return to the earliest days of childhood innocense. Looking through the doorway there is a faded green bronze statue of a man draped over a rock contemplating an abstract madonna-like statue of a mother holding her child. The doorway, the broken wall are metaphors for the many layers (of memory) it takes to go all the way back to the beginning of our memory. The landscape on the left side with the clouds and grooves in the sand and mountains all reinforce this movement backwards in space/time.
