The title of this painting "Southwest of Reality" is a play on words for the meaning of surrealism is literally "south of realism" and being that my favorite landscape is the American southwest and my favorite art is surrealistic, they came together naturally.
They idea of the woman's body "breaking the plane" of the painting lends itself to the rejection of the accepted convention of a picture painted on a 2-dimensional surface representing a 3-dimensional reality.
