A portrait of the workaday world that I experienced for many years. A common aspect would be contrasting of the two extremes of either being confined to working on a computer in a cubicle, toiling away (of which I did for many years) or the physical exertion of slaving away under the hot sun of which I did very little, but some.
The moon represents the clock watching and waiting for 5 o'clock with the hour and second hands draped over the strawberry (representing the heart) and the head of the bust on the right side. Inside of the head would be a person dreaming of their long overdue vacation relaxing on some beach during sunset.
The beads of sweat in the foreground under the man and his intestines wrapped around the stem of the strawberry are representing the torture he goes through on a daily basis.
The moon with the Roman numerals from the face of a clock comes from looking up at the clock in the tower of City hall in Philadelphia which always appears to me like a harvest moon due to its yellow background.
